This snowboard is a real marvel and one of a kind. I ride a couple other swallow tails from Jones and wanted something that sits between the Storm Wolf performance/stiffness and the short form factor and nimbleness of the Storm Chaser. The mosquito did exactly that and exceeded my expectations in the process. Don't get fooled by its shape, this is a short fat freeride board, not a mellow little snowsurf. It's stiff, almost full camber, very nimble and handles speed extremely well for its size. It is a pretty agressive ride for advanced riders and up, but one thing I really love about the mosquito that none of my other freeride boards do is that it's fun at both low and high speeds. Even though it turns on a dime and has a short turning radius, you can still straightline it and charge with it when you need to. It chews through pow like you'd expect from its shape and it's happiest in medium to steep slopes for that. Carving performance is top tier if you like across the groomer carves. My favorite was probably taking this in springy slush. Finally, one thing that surprised me about this board is how well it handles medium jumps and side hits. For a board with such a tiny tail you can get some real air and land things confidently.
If you're like me and you enjoy boards with very short tails and tide everything your resort has to offer, I'd strongly consider adding the mosquito to your quiver. It's a very unique board and fills a niche in the freeride surfy shapes no other do.
